This is a list of events where members of The Midlands Kite Fliers will be flying kites. Further details can also be found on the MKF Forum
Some of the events are 'fly-ins' - a meeting of members, with no traders or stalls, but a venue to meet, talk, learn, make friends and fly a kite. Other events are kite days or festivals, in conjunction with councils and other organisations, where display kites are flown and kite retailers are on site offering the opportunity to buy a kite

14th Rushcliffe Kite Festival
Rushcliffe Country Park, Mere Way, Ruddington, Nottinghamshire, NG11 6JS
OS Grid Ref SK 569 321
GPS N 52.88580 W 1.15659
Please Note. This event is usually held in September but the organizers have brought it forwards this year
Rushcliffe Country Park is originally M.O.D. land that was reclaimed some years ago into a landscaped area with trees, large grassed areas and country walks. Until the trees grow to their full maturity the open areas are great for kite flying and MKF have once again been invited to take part in the very popular Annual Rushcliffe, Kite Festival.
This event has always been well attended, the organizers arrange various entertainments and we get to have a lot of fun!
There’s an excellent children’s playground and the park is alongside the Nottinghamshire Heritage Centre with its collection of steam trains and vintage classic vehicles, some of which may be on show outside the museum.
I am sorry to inform you at short notice, but due to circumstances beyond the committees control, the MKF Family Fun Weekend has been CANCELLED.

4th MKF Family Fun Weekend
Carnfield Hall,
South Normanton,
Derbyshire

The second field should be available to us this year so there will be plenty of room for separate flying areas for single line, 2 line/4 line and buggies
On site camping will be available from Friday 4pm until Monday 12 noon (no earlier arrivals please as there is no parking available outside the gates which will be locked until 4 pm) it would be helpful to know in advance if you are camping so please let us know if you can.
The same popular informal format as the last one is again the order of the day with no public attendance. Just turn up and have a chill out weekend with fellow kite fliers, the fields are there if you want to fly or put on your own display but no official programme. If there are any request for things like Altitude Sprints or Rok Fights etc.they can be acommodated on the day.
A buffet followed by an auction (subject to available items) is planned for the Saturday night and we really need to have some idea how many people to cater for so even if you are not camping please let us know that you will be coming along.
Contact Ann/David 01246 864408 or Gilli/Richard 01773 742304 or see us at an event.

Sunday 21st November 2010
MKF Annual General Meeting
Venue still to be finalised and will be posted later
Starts at 10.30am
Details of the Agenda will be posted on the club forum nearer to the event.
Some events are small informal gatherings, a sort of turn up and fly your kite' type of event. Others are larger more formal organized events or festivals where the club is being paid a fee to put on a display. At these events it is usual to allow members free entry on the understanding that they will be on hand to assist in putting on the display as well as fly their own kites. There is always plenty to do in setting up arenas putting up banners and display boards and of course flying the club kites, along with packing it all away again at the end. Please come along and help out if at all possible as all assistance is very welcome and helps make the event more enjoyable for all.
Most events are held all day, usually commencing around 10.00am (weather permitting of course!).
Further details can also be found on the MKF Forum
